Made a visit to this shrine during kiku matsuri. Amazingly beautifully decorated With Royal chrysanthemums. Peaceful and spiritual place. Highly recommend visiting.

A great shrine to visit for free! (except the praying donation if you want to do that). Its big and impressive. The maiden wear a very clean and beautiful white & red outfit. People come and go constantly no matter the weather, its amazing. Saw a businessman brave a heavy downpour without umbrella, carrying only his business bag, to come pray before going on with his day

This is pretty much the only place around that comes to mind when I think of something for tourists. It's one of the better shrines in Niigata. If you walk around the base, you'll see a nice park with a playground, an area to see/feed Japanese deer, and there are several gift/souvenir shops and restaurants.

There is plenty of nature and a nice atmosphere. There are various types of chickens and explanations, so you can enjoy them. Deer is also a little small kind of cute, and I will bring food this time. Oden to eat nearby was also exquisite and the seats were kotatsu so if you were not a car you would want to drink and relax. There is a parking lot on the top, but I think that if there are more people than waiting there because it is a little small, it is better to stop below and walk up without stress.
